Obama FTW!
Guess I stay in the country!

EDIT:  Good God, what a speech.  He won with dignity, and he hasn't dropped the message of hope and empowerment that was such a central part of his campaign.

I just learned that Whedon had been planning a Spike movie that was eventually scrapped because of a lack of funding.
I think I might cry...

The Big Read reckons that the average adult has only read 6 of the top 100 books they've printed."
1) Look at the list and bold those you have read.
2) Italicize those you intend to read.
3) Underline the books you LOVE.
4) Reprint this list in your own LJ so we can try and track down these people who've read 6 and force books upon them ;-)

If someone ever tells you that Hondas have good pickup... BELIEVE THEM.  It's a great trait for a car, but it can be a bit disconcerting for a novice driver.

I rule in so many ways- no, no I don't [Jun. 7th, 2008|02:55 am]
[Current Mood | distressed]

So, I'm typing this from Sephiroth, which I fixed through a combination of sheer awesomeness and a process I don't entirely understand.  As far as I can tell, the damn thing actually LOST a config file.  I don't mean "lost" in the sense of "wasn't there/destroyed."  I mean "lost" in the sense of "couldn't find it".  Seriously.  I seem to have fixed the problem by leading the computer directly to the file it was skipping when booting up.
Wierd, huh?

EDIT:  FUCK!  I probably shouldn't have let Avast restart my computer, because now it won't stop restarting my computer.  It boots up, no problems, then, 30 seconds after my desktop loads, it's auto-reboot time!  I shouldn't have fucked with it, at least before I had some clue what was wrong.  Of course, certain similarities to the problem I had almost two years ago do arise- for example, an inexplicible operations failure.  Looks like the hard drive may have been damaged, after all.
Needless to say, this edit was typed from another computer.

So yeah, a lot of y'all lost power, too, but you're better off than me: my computer got fried by the outage.  It actually looks like hardware damage; it says that one of the System32 files is corrupt or missing, and the utilities accessible through the recovery disk give me the wonderfully helpful info that "there are one or more problems with the volume(i.e. my hard drive).  Some of you may remember that I had to replace my hard drive not long after I got the machine, and it looks like I may have to do so again.  I'm hoping to recover most of my data if it comes to that, though.
On a related note, I'm changing my computer's name from Jesus(death&resurrection thing) to Sephiroth(for the apparently endless number of deaths and revivals the bloody thing appears eager to undergo)

I GOT TO SEE FLORENCE TODAY!

Work was fun, but that was BY FAR my highlight of the week.

Well, that's odd.  Four of the cast members of Reboot were also on Inuyasha and X-men: Evolution, and six were on the more recent version of He-Man: Masters of the Universe.  Three of them have been involved in the Dawn of War series.  And no oneis more than seven degrees of seperation from Tony Jay(who played Megabyte, the Elder God, and more Narrators than you can shake causality at)

It's been a pretty awesome 24 hours.  Last night, I went to the midnight premier of Prince Caspian with my friends from school, and it was suitably spectacular.  Tonight, I ushered at a Bob Newhart stand-up bit, which was funny, but the real highlight was seeing Mr. Wright, who was basically my mentor in high school.  He looked a good 10 years younger than he had 2 years ago, so whatever he's been doing works.

In the wak e of my first school-related all-nighter, I must now go 3 days without access to my computer.  You can still leave messages for me, just realize that it will take that long for me to get them.

Well, I 'm 20.  Don't feel any different.  Stupid office drones screwed me out of being an usher, so I'll be completely afk from the 6th till the 10th.

Some parts of this article almost made me cry.  Others made me want to travel the world and kick the asses of the perpetrators.  I wouldn't even be reading it if I weren't researching for an essay.

Yay, just talked to Florence! Great way to wake up, I can tell you. I didn't contribute all that much to the conversation, but then, I had just woken up.
In other news, almost everyone I know is getting sick.  Walking pneumonia, which, ironically, makes you really not want to walk(or so I hear).
Assuming everyone's at least mostly recovered, I'll be going to Katsucon with a group of friends this weekend, which should be fun.  I'm deliberately not bringing much money, because if I brought it, I'd only try to spend it.  Planning on fanboying at a few of my favorite ebcomic artists who'll be there.
